In 1994 I founded Gynecologic Specialists of Northwestern with the vision that women could receive state of the art medical care in an unrushed, comfortable, atmosphere. My goal was not only to practice good medicine, but also to educate women so they themselves could participate in the decisions that would affect them. I am honored that over theyears so many of you have trusted me to participate in the birth of your children, to share the struggles of illness and surgery and to navigate the challenges of hormones that surge, waver or disappear. Recently, I started a new chapter, which I am very excited to share with you.

I am now part of Northwestern Medicine. I will continue to see patients for routine gynecologic care but will primarily see patients for complex gynecologic problems, consultations, and second opinions.  As we all know, delivery of health care has changed, and it has become increasingly difficult for me to spend the time I believe is required to educate, evaluate and treat complex problems. Therefore, I am limiting the number of patients I see each day so I will be able to spend the additional time required to evaluate and treat complex gynecologic issues.

My new office is located in Northwestern Medicine’s Lavin Family Pavilion, 259 East Erie (on the corner of Fairbanks and Erie) on the 24th floor. For more information about my new practice, visit http://drstreicher.nm.org or call 312-472-0502

I am also pleased to announce that I am also the Medical Director of a new Northwestern Medicine Center for Sexual Health and Menopause. The center is expected to open in early 2017, and it will not only offer comprehensive care for women (and men) with sexual health problems, but will also be the nation's premier sexual health research and teaching facility. The Northwestern Medicine Center for Sexual Health will bring together physicians, advanced practice nurses, certified sex therapists, pelvic floor physical therapists and experts in every field of medicine who will collaborate to address the physical, medical and hormonal conditions that impact sexual health.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Dr. Streicher’s Northwestern Medicine practice take insurance?

Yes, but because visits will be extended, patients who wish to join will pay an annual fee to receive these expanded and personalized services, as described on drstreicher.nm.org. With the exception of the annual fee, your insurance will be billed as usual for the care provided during your office visits, and you will still be responsible for co-pays and/or co-insurance amounts as required by your health plan. My staff will be available to assist you if any reimbursement questions or concerns arise during the billing process.

How do I enroll to be a patient in Dr. Streicher’spractice?

Please complete and return the Membership Application and Agreement form found on the Lauren Streicher, MD Personal Care web page, and return it to my patient concierge. She will contact you to confirm enrollment and provide further instructions regarding your medical records and other items. If you need more information, please contact my assistant at drstreicherappt@nm.org or 312 472-0502

Is Dr. Streicher going to continue to give community talks?

Yes, even more. Dr. Streicher’s passion is to educate and connect with women, so to that end she will be conducting a series of events and talks throughout the Chicago area. Please sign up at drstreicher.com/sign-up/ to receive invitations and updates.

Is the annual fee considered a qualified health care expense that can be paid from a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and/or is the fee tax deductible?

Unfortunately, the annual fee is not considered a qualified expense that can be paid or reimbursed from an HSA or FSA, because it is not considered payment for direct care or services. Generally, the annual fee is not tax deductible either.
